Monticelli d’ Ongina, Italy, is one of Gilroy’s original Sister Cities, designated on April 15, 1985.
Monticelli is located in northern Italy approximately 65 east of Milan, and is noted for its production of garlic as well as tourism. Delegations from Monticelli have come to the Gilroy Garlic Festival most recently in 1997 & 2000.
